NATO CIMIC Staff Worker Course
About:
The NATO CIMIC Staff Worker Course (NCSWC) aims to enable officers and non-commissioned officers appointed as CIMIC Staff Workers to conduct NATO CIMIC activities across the full spectrum of military engagements in modern operating environments. Although the NCFWC is not a precondition for joining the NCSWC, it is highly recommended to complete the NCFWC prior to joining the NCSWC to ensure an optimal CIMIC learning experience. This is particularly true for individuals with no CIMIC background or experience. The NCSWC also aims to train and raise awareness among civilians and non-NATO military personnel about CIMIC activities, procedures, and the joint function of CIMIC.
The course prepares participants for staff work and generates awareness of military procedures and processes, particularly for those engaged in international organisations (IOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), governmental organisations (GOs), as well as other military personnel, including non-NATO military.
NCSWC also supports students participating in the Master of Civil-Military Interaction (M-CMI) program from the Helmut Schmidt University (HSU) in Hamburg and utilises various blended learning options. The course is open to students up to and including corps/component command level, civilian equivalents, and anyone with a vested interest in CIMIC.
Supported by qualified and experienced NATO staff, CCOE staff, and representatives of non-military actors, the course aims to provide participants with comprehensive CIMIC knowledge. This training ensures they become confident NATO CIMIC Staff Workers at the tactical level.
Preferably the NCFWC and the NCSWC are executed in parallel to allow interaction.
