Research Aim

The Joint Experimentation Project, conducted in collaboration with Leiden University, seeks to assess the validity of the NATO CIMIC Analysis and Assessment (NCAA). The project focuses on understanding and enhancing the effectiveness of analysis and assessment capabilities in Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) operations.

Key Research Questions

  • How can the NATO CIMIC Analysis and Assessment capabilities be effectively measured and enhanced to improve operational outcomes?
  • What factors influence the effectiveness of analysis and assessment capabilities in CIMIC, and how do these capabilities impact the success of the operation?
  • How effective is the NATO CIMIC Analysis and Assessment Course in enhancing participants’ skills and competencies, and what impact does it have on the operational performance of CIMIC personnel in exercises?

Case Studies

The project will analyze two key exercises to gather data and insights:

  • Exercise Joint Cooperation (JOCO25) conducted by the Multinational CIMIC Command in Nienburg, Germany (date to be confirmed, June).
