About:

The NATO CIMIC Field Worker Course (NCFWC) enables officers and non-commissioned officers, appointed as CIMIC operators, to conduct CIMIC activities across the full spectrum of military engagement in peacetime, crisis and conflict. The course invites students up to and including corps/component command level, civilian equivalents and those who have a vested interest in CIMIC.

Supported by qualified and experienced NATO staff, CCOE staff, and representatives of non-military organisations, students will get introduced to essential NATO doctrines and processes. It teaches about CIMIC activities on the tactical level, non-military actors and the Civil Factors of the Operating Environment. Students will be challenged to test their knowledge in a practice-oriented multinational learning environment.

Preferably the NCFWC and the NCSWC are executed in parallel to allow interaction.

Subjects of the course:

Introduction to the NATO CIMIC doctrinal framework
CIMIC as a joint function, its principles and core activities and relation to other staff functions
Cross-Cultural Competences and Intercultural Communication
Communication and negotiation with non-military actors
Use of a NATO CIMIC Liaison Matrix
Reporting in accordance with NATO standards
Contribution to CIMIC analysis, assessments and advice
Contribution to the management and evaluation of CIMIC activities
Introduction to Resilience through Civil Preparedness

Prerequisites:

CIMIC personnel (OR-5 – OF-4) or civilian equivalents
Language proficiency: Students must meet the following standards of proficiency in English
(as described in STANAG 6001):
Officers: listening – good/3, speaking – good/3, reading – good/3, writing – fair/2 or civilian equivalents
Non-commissioned officers: listening – good/2, speaking – good/2, reading – good/2, writing – fair/1 or civilian equivalents
Successful completion of the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) modules ADL 037, ADL 143 and ADL 169 is obligatory

NATO CIMIC Field Worker Course

The personal data you submit into the registration site will be used by nominated Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence (CCOE) staff to process your application and to manage your attendance during your time with us. As such it may form part of transport, surveys, accommodation and catering plans as well as being used to generate passes or manage your access to areas within the CCOE and the Majoor Jan Linzel Complex (MJLC). If the course or event incurs an online registration fee then elements of this data will be used by the payment management software but are immediately deleted after successful payment. All personal data held in the system relating to this course or event will be deleted from the system after 6 months of the conclusion of all activities.
