About:
The NATO CIMIC Higher Command Course (NCHCC) is designed to equip CIMIC staff from NATO Command and Force Structure (NCS and NFS), as well as non-NATO and non-military personnel, with the required knowledge, skills and mindset to prepare, plan and conduct CIMIC activities across the full spectrum of NATO multi-domain operations, missions and activities.. This includes operations during peacetime, crises, and conflicts.
The course focuses on the NATO Operations Planning Process (OPP) and related headquarters staff processes and procedures. The NCHCC adds to students’ individual portfolios of knowledge, generating the confidence needed to become effective NATO CIMIC staff members at NATO’s strategic, operational and higher tactical level performing within a continuously changing, challenging and complex operating environment.
Additionally, the NCHCC provides an opportunity for individuals from civil organisations to gain awareness and understand their role within the NATO Comprehensive Approach. By assessing the political-military context and fostering interaction with all involved parties, the course ensures that CIMIC staff can contribute effectively with their functional expertise to the planning and execution of multi-domain operations.
Subjects of the course:
- Context and role of CIMIC within joint level multi-domain operations
- Application of the OPP and the CIMIC contribution within this process
- Conduct of CIMIC core activities within joint level multi-domain operations
- Related battle rhythms, boards and working groups
- Contribution to the Operations Assessment Process
- CIMIC related topics, such as Comprehensive Approach (CA), Military Contribution to Human Security (MC2HS), Cross Cutting Topics (CCT), Resilience through Civil Preparedness (RtCP) and Joint Targeting
Prerequisites:
- CIMIC military personnel (OF-3 – OF-6) or civilian equivalents and Master of Civil-Military Interaction students
- Language proficiency: Students must meet the following standards of proficiency in English
(as described in STANAG 6001):
listening – good/3, speaking – good/3, reading – good/3, writing – fair/2 o or civilian equivalents - Successful completion of the NATO CIMIC Staff Worker Course (NCSWC)
- By the exception of skipping the NCSWC a completion of the ADL modules ADL 037, ADL 143 and ADL 169 is obligatory
Iterations:
The NATO CIMIC Higher Command Course will be conducted in two or three iterations per year. The duration is two weeks.
- 30 June – 11 July. The Hague, The Netherlands.
- 24 November – 06 December. The Hague, The Netherlands.

Students from Sponsoring Nations: 395.00 Euro
Students from Non-Sponsoring Nations: 795.00 Euro
NATO CIMIC Higher Command Course

As such it may form part of transport, surveys, accommodation and catering plans as well as being used to generate passes or manage your access to areas within the CCOE and the Majoor Jan Linzel Complex (MJLC). If the course or event incurs an online registration fee then elements of this data will be used by the payment management software but are immediately deleted after successful payment. All personal data held in the system relating to this course or event will be deleted from the system after 6 months of the conclusion of all activities.
